Michele, September

Overall:
We booked Villa Spisone-8 for a large group of family and friends and it was perfect. The villa is large and spacious with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is on the smaller side but very well equipped - we really only used it for coffee and breakfast, anyway. The villa is clean, the gardens are beautiful and the patio is outstanding. The weather was beautiful while we were there so we spent most of our time outside. Already planning our return!
Enjoyed Most:
The patio is amazing - nice and big with an outstanding view. Lots of room with a covered area in case of rain. The spa is nice to have, even though it's not heated. The villa's convenient location is also a huge plus. Very close to the beach (2 min. walk) and close to the cable car to Taormina (10 min. walk) and walking distance to plenty of shops and restaurants in Mazzaro. Plenty of bathrooms - one for each room was very nice to have as well!
Enjoyed Least:
Not much to add here - we loved everything. Nothing to do with the villa but walking the road back and forth to Mazzaro is a little dicey due to heavy traffic.
Surrounding Area:
Lido La Caravella is a great beach location - 2 minute walk. The cable car to Taormina is only a 10 minute walk. Very convenient.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mazzaro was the closest town - about a 5 minute walk from the villa. Plenty of restaurants and small shops. Very convenient.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure to bring mosquito repellent. There is some at the villa but you can never have enough. Lido La Pigna is an excellent restaurant at the beach in Mazzaro but it closes at 7pm so don't plan on a late dinner, there. Lido La Caravella is a great beach very nearby.
Directions:
We had a car service drop us off at the property - we had no problems with the directions.
Check In Out:
No. Check in and check out went very smoothly.

Overall:
Villa is in a beautiful area with spectacular views.
Enjoyed Most:
The outdoor areas were large and beautiful, with many choices for outdoor dining.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room couches were dated and uncomfortable. There were also two different dogs in the area that barked often.
Surrounding Area:
Very nice towns and people. The local grocery store was convenient and the owners were very nice to us.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mazzano, within walking distance, with the cable car to Taormina.
Tips or Restaurants:
None in particular. We didn't have a bad meal. Every restaurant we tried was good.
Directions:
Directions to the villa were perfect.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out went very smoothly. Simonetta was very helpful.

Overall:
Our family voted this the best vacation house we have ever rented.
Enjoyed Most:
Every morning we woke up to a beautiful view of the water, made coffee and walked outside to the wonderful terrace to drink it and enjoy the view. It was a short walk to the beach. In the evening we would drink wine on the terrace and enjoy the end of the day. There were numerous places to eat close by and just a short ride to Taormina, a charming town.
Enjoyed Least:
It was a little noisy--there is a train and road and some nearby roosters--but it didn't cause significant problems for us.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful--the view from the terrace is across the water to Calabria in southern Italy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to a small shop for bread, cheese, salami, fruit and wine. Just down the hill was croissants and brioches and granita.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bam Bar in Taormina for the best granita.
Check In Out:
The owner is lovely. Made our stay a joy. She left coffee, bread, milk, tomatoes, homemade orange marmalade---all things to get us through breakfast the first day.
