Overall:
Casa Toscana was exactly as described and absolutely perfect for a romantic Tuscan holiday for the two of us. Our friends joined us for one evening and kept saying "pinch me" this place cannot be real! We truly were able to live the Tuscan life for our week including walking into town, cooking with the fresh produce and herbs that were abundant, enjoying delicious wine by candlelight outside while enjoying a spectacular view. The location was wonderful for our day trips to neighboring hill towns and Cortona had so much to offer!
Enjoyed Most:
We most enjoyed the privacy and view of the property. From the minute we arrived and meandered down the winding stone stairs lined with rosemary, lavendar, fig trees and more, we literally could not believe how lucky we were to be there.
Enjoyed Least:
To be very honest, the property needs some love in the living room furniture department. The sofa and chair in that room were the most uncomfortable to sit on. On chillier nights, we really had no place to "hang out" inside. The mattresses could also be upgraded, not terrible but not up to the quality of the property or super comfy for a week's worth of sleep.
Surrounding Area:
We truly enjoyed so much about the surrounding area from the walkability to Cortona to the vistas like we have never seen, to the fragrant smells in the air from the herbs, the trees and the wood burning. We felt we really picked well with this villas both from its own offerings and the location itself.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was a twenty minute, easy walk (albeit one needs to be careful of the cars as there are no sidewalks.).
Tips or Restaurants:
The absolute best restaurant in Cortona is AD-Braceria. We went there on our second night and loved it so much decided to celebrate our last night of our whole trip there. The food was amazing, the ambience (you are seated in a wine cellar) is so charming and the service was delightful. And, the cost...very reasonable for the quality of food and wine! In terms of what to bring, we had been told the villas was self catering, which it was, but found it to be stocked with paper goods, laundry detergent, dish detergent, salt and pepper, olive oil and some hand soap and shampoo samples.
Directions:
The property is hard to find because it is tucked down a tiny drive that is essentially hidden (which makes this villas so wonderfully private.) BUT, the management, when we called, insisted upon meeting up at the bottom of the town and escorted us directly to the house without our ever even trying to find it with GPS. With that said, our friends found us using GPS with the directions you provided.
Check In Out:
The management was extremely nice and very laid back. I would say, as Americans, we are not used to such laid back service. The gentleman who showed us to the property handed us the keys, mentioned a thing or two about how to use air conditioning and left. We had an initial issue with no Wifi and within an hour on a Saturday night, the management sent someone out to fix it! We had no idea what the procedure was for checking out. We were leaving very early to catch a flight from Rome so I ended up calling the management the day before to ask what we were to do with the linens, keys, etc. They were very, very nice and just told us to leave everything as it was and place the key in a location they mentioned. If I had not called, I would not have known what to do. Fortunately, they did not ask us for a security deposit as the materials had suggested so we did not need to connect in person to retrieve it. Very, very kind people!!!

Overall:
Very relaxing and quite location while being very close to the village of Cortona and easy access to explore other villages and the countryside.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was great.
Enjoyed Least:
The driveway offered a challenge in getting into the property and there was a problem with the hot water that was fixed when a part was replaced.
Surrounding Area:
The little café just up the hill was great for stopping for morning coffee or a snack during the day. The view was wonderful and the owners were terrific. We had a couple of great conversations with the locals over coffee.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was a good walk for the young at heart. There was easy access to a parking lot about 12 minutes way there that offered a pleasant walk for the rest of us.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a good GPS for exploring the area and we did not find a bad restaurant.
Directions:
Our GPS that we got from the car rental company did not have an up-to-date set of maps so getting to the property and was a problem. We called and met the property manager at a parking lot outside of the village and he led us in.
Check In Out:
Check in and out went smoothly the only problem was the airline causing a 4 hour delay in our arrival. The property manager was wonderful and assisted us in every way we asked. They were GREAT!

Overall:
A wonderful, relaxing experience. Just what was needed after long flights.
Enjoyed Most:
Privacy, quiet, calming, view, pool and the overall house.
Enjoyed Least:
No hot water when we arrived but problem was corrected shortly.
Surrounding Area:
Very easy access to other hill top towns as well as Cortona but a GPS is highly recommended
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona, it was walkable once you drove to the bottom of the hill, parked and then walked in.
Tips or Restaurants:
GPS and Osteria Del Teatro was wonderful
Directions:
Set the house up as a favorite on your GPS so you can find it again
Check In Out:
Check in Check out was perfect. We got lost getting there and someone came into town to meet us and show us the way.

Overall:
Just a beautiful and peaceful place, great pool, magnificent view. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed Most:
View and landscaping for all the butterflies
Enjoyed Least:
Hard to find the first time. Difficult to get into driveway, luckily there was a bumpy turn-around just down the street.
Surrounding Area:
Cafe Torreone most mornings for breakfast. Side road to St. Catherine's church.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. It's a long walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cafe Torreone, Trattatoria Dardano, Ristorante de Teatro?,
Directions:
Our Garmin wanted a street and number address and was hard to put in the GPS coordinates.

Overall:
This was the nicest villa we have ever stayed at. It is hard to express how perfect our week was. I could have spent the whole week just sitting outside looking at the view and watching the butterflies. It was so calm and peaceful, especially after our week in Paris.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the gardens. It was also nice to have the pool to come back to after walking all day. The view is just amazing. It is the most beautiful setting I have ever seen.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds were not the most comfortable but a small price to pay for such beauty. It was really hard to find the villa but I imagine it is hard for a Garmin to find any address in Tuscany. We had no hot water for the first three nights but that was addressed and fixed.
Surrounding Area:
The hill towns are lovely and many were within an hours drive of the villa. We visited the Lake and several towns. The sunflowers were blooming!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Cortona. It was not within walking distance for an older person.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cafe Toreone is right up the hill for coffee in the morning.
Directions:
The GPS did not work at all because it wants a street address and the villa doesn't have one. We finally gave up and called the manager to come and get us because it was getting dark.

Richard, July

Overall:
Very peaceful and restful, exactly as promised.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and rustic styling.
Enjoyed Least:
Access to the driveway. Very steep drop from the roadway was difficult to negotiate with a large car.
Surrounding Area:
Ease or access by road and rail to a umber of large and small towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. Possible to walk in about 35 to 40 mins but we preferred to drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing in particular, other than perhaps a flash light. Restaurants in Cortona are fair to good. The restaurant in Hotel Michelle was excellent.
Check In Out:
Valentina, the property manager was excellent.
