Customer Reviews

Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location.
Enjoyed Least:
We were there in winter and couldn't hear street noises during the night, but I imagine in summer with the windows open it could be unpleasant.
Surrounding Area:
Everything, as we we opposite Orsanmichele.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found the kitchen well supplied with cooking and eating equipment. Fresh food markets abound.

Surrounding Area:
Loved the area - being close to the best of Florence!

Michael, October

Enjoyed Most:
Central location to all sites. The property was bright and sunny and very comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
No bathroom counter space.
Surrounding Area:
Easy short walk to Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, shopping, Piazza Signoria, Piazza della Republica.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't miss going to the Piazza del Mercato Centrale where you can purchase fruit, vegetables, meats and cheese for a picnic. Don't need to bring anything. It is supplied with all kitchen utensils, iron and ironing board. The small washing machine works great. Be sure to get good instructions from the representative. This property came with an informative book which contained information about restaurants, museums, local doctors, etc, which we found very helpful. Bring zip lock bags for a variety of uses. Things like bar soap and laundry soap can be purchased when you arrive. Restaurants Bargello in Piazza Signoria. Aqua al Due, 4 Leoni, and Il Latini.
Directions:
We suggest you take a cab from the train station to the property management office.

Overall:
The help from the Rentvillas staff was great. If safety is a concern, we felt very safe in the neighborhood.
Enjoyed Most:
The central location in Florence. Having a washing machine and kitchen was nice, too.
Enjoyed Least:
The street noise outside at night.
Surrounding Area:
Within Florence, everything was within walking distance. Outside of the city, the countryside was beautiful. It was fun driving in the country, but getting into and out of the city by car was a bit nerve-wracking.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring money--everything in Italy is expensive, except the trains. I was not impressed with the restaurants in Florence. Every place serves the same thing. The pasta was very good, but the second courses were hit or miss - mostly miss. The pastries and ice cream were excellent. As for the pizza, any mom and pop pizzeria in New York is 10 times better.

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment location was amazing - we were close to everything.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! From the music drifting through the windows in the evening, to the accessibility of the historic district. The evening's walk through the Piazza Signoria, past the Uffizi, along the Arno, onto the Ponte Vecchio and then back again past the Mercato Nuevo and Il Porcellino was always something to which I looked forward.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole was the closest. It was an easy bus ride on bus 7.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you make reservations for dinner. The less touristy restaurants usually require them. Aqua al Due was fantastic.

Ellen, October

Overall:
One of my favorite memories is listening to the street musicians from the Uffizi area late at night, as their music drifted the few blocks through the 14th century streets.
Enjoyed Most:
I really enjoyed that the property was VERY central. We were right in the center of Florence.
Enjoyed Least:
No air conditioning proved to be uncomfortable during a heat wave. The photos on the website showed stairs. I assumed the bedrooms were upstairs, yet the stairs led nowhere and the bedroom was really part of the living room -- two convertible single sofas and a permanent double bed. Technically the apartment could sleep four, but it really was better for just the two of us.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! Even the noisy vender carts rolling by in the early morning or the horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping by added to the ambiance. But, of course, the very best part was that the surrounding area is Firenze!!!
Tips or Restaurants:
Anything you may need can be found within a block or two -- don't bring anything. One of our favorite restaurants is Aqua Due. On the ground floor of the apartment building is a cafeteria-style eating place called Hot Pot. The longer we stayed the lower their prices became for us.
Directions:
It's a good idea to locate the property on a map before you leave home.

Susan , August

Enjoyed Most:
The central location, the large, open room with high ceilings and lovely decoration.
Enjoyed Least:
It takes a lot of keys to get inside! Seriously, there is a fair amount of noise from the street at night and you need to have ear plugs to go to sleep. The rep did not tell us, nor did we remember to ask where to dispose of our garbage and recyling.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! The shops and cafes, the Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi, the Ponte Vecchio...
Tips or Restaurants:
The washing machine is very complicated to operate despite the instructions left behind. They need to be more clear. The kitchen was well equipped but could use more dishtowels to dry the dishes. A bigger espresso machine would be nice. There was just the 2 of us and we found the small machine did not make enough for us.
Check In Out:
On arrival day, the rep showed up very quickly once I called her and showed up on time the day of checkout, which was appreciated.

Overall:
I couldn't have been happier.
Enjoyed Most:
GREAT location!
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom was tiny and the shower drain didn't work very well but I LOVED the place and don't think that took away from my experience at all.
Surrounding Area:
The Duomo, the restaurants, the plazas - WOW, I couldn't have wished for more!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole - took a city bus to get there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cafe Nello, Tratoria del Gobbi - go ready to MANGIA, MANGIA!!!
Check In Out:
Check in was very easy and Francesca was very helpful.

Lindsay, March

Overall:
Apartment was spacious, airy and light with high ceilings. Adequate kitchen, thoughtfully equipped. Good washing machine and bathroom. Secure building. Central location close to many attractions. We were told apt. was better than the photos, and it was.
Enjoyed Least:
It needs more task lighting in the kitchen and dining area.
Surrounding Area:
Florence. In addition to the obvious walkable sites, don't miss the Pazzale Michelangelo on the hill overlooking Florence and the beautiful San Lorenzo church nearby, easily accessible by bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
A wonderful gourmet find at reasonable prices - Zibibbo. Phone 055 433383. Take the 14c bus from near the Duomo to the end of the line and the restaurant is about twenty yards from the bus stop up a small lane. Don't miss the gourmet bakery called Cantinetta dei Verrazzano on Via de' Tavolini. The "world's best gelato" is at Vivoli.
