Customer Reviews

Overall:
Excellent. Relaxing. Different. One of the highlights was 25 school childen fom New Zealand staying overnight. Sharing a bus with them and then dinner later. They were absolutely amazingly delightful!
Enjoyed Most:
Characteristic of Tuscany. Beautiful gardens. Incredible, almost hidden foyer (maybe formerly a chapel?) underneath back porch. Beatiful inlaid tile.
Enjoyed Least:
Mosquitos. We were forwarned by some of the reviews posted on the site. Bedroom was next to a bedroom of neighbors with young children. It was noisy but tolerable.
Surrounding Area:
Slow pace, natural beauty. We were not interested in driving and found the property relatively accessible by bus from Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Within a mile walk we could obtain adequate groceries and essentials.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bug repellant or fine mesh for screen repair.
Directions:
Did not use GPS.
Check In Out:
Excellent, helpful staff.

Overall:
We enjoyed our week's stay at Castello 3. The property was maintained very well, the view was nice, and I enjoyed the somewhat-remote location.
Enjoyed Most:
Overall, the property! Other benefits include the on site restaurant, the pool, size of the apartment, on site office was very helpful. We also enjoyed the relaxing afternoons that we spent outside at a table by the apartment. We opened a few bottles of wine and enjoyed the view!
Enjoyed Least:
The on site restaurant opens at noon so buy your own coffee! We normally prefer a cooler temperature when we sleep, but we had 2 fans in the apartment which we moved to the master bedroom. The shower was small, but we made it work!
Surrounding Area:
Montespertoli was our favorite town about a 10 minute drive away! Great small town and one of our favorite meals in the piazza!
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was a small town down the hill that was within walking distance, but we did not go there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definately bring mosquito spray and don't open the windows! There is a COOP in Montespertoli where you can basically buy anything that you need. Also, bring bathroom items, like a hair dryer, shampoo, and conditioner.
Directions:
Yes, we used a GPS. We drove around Tuscany for the week and do not see how you could get around without it!
Check In Out:
The front desk was fabulous! The check-in process was great and they were very easy going when we had to leave very early on Saturday. They let us check out on Friday.

Overall:
It was so fun to stay at this "castle." The whole place was interesting and beautiful. The people were all friendly and helpful, the restaurant very good, and the views incredible.
Enjoyed Most:
Sitting on the balcony for our morning breakfast looking out over the Tuscan scenery.
Enjoyed Least:
No screens on the windows--a few mosquitoes came in.
Surrounding Area:
This property is very well located. With a rental car we did 2 day trips into Florence and one to Siena. We very much enjoyed exploring all the small towns nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We didn't walk to Baccaiano, but you could. We ate breakfast there a time or two. We didn't explore the Castelgufoni and I wish we had. There may have been some good finds there closer to "home."
Tips or Restaurants:
It was very well equipped. We got some bread, cheese, meat and fruit at the weekly market in San Casciano. We also did a wine tour at St. Michele winery--the castle staff will set that up for you. It was very fun. Our favorite restaurant was one we found in the old town center of San Casciano. We went back 3 times and all the food was excellent! It's called Caffe Del Popolano and we would highly recommend it!
Directions:
No--they got us there easily with no wrong turns!

Overall:
Fantastic! Every first-time guest should receive the book about Montegufoni - just include it in the price and have it sitting in the room when they arrive - it's mandatory.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the history, the structure itself - it's a real castle!
Enjoyed Least:
Minimal conection to the real world - it's hard to go without CNN and the Internet.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! Close enough to Venice for a day-trip, and close enough to Florence for an afternoon trip.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Bacciano. Five-minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a small DVD player and some favorite movies. Bring a few good books. Bring a cellphone that connects to your world.
