Customer Reviews
Overall:
Outstanding! The property and the villa were absolutely perfect and everything we hoped it would be!
Enjoyed Most:
Its location--so peaceful and quiet, and the restaurant staff were phenomenal! The views were amazing and the castle is so well kept.
Enjoyed Least:
There's not too much to complain about! I think the worst was several mosquito bites from sleeping with an open window...but after some bug spray, that was taken care of!
Surrounding Area:
The town of Baccaiano was great as well, with several wonderful and affordable restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest towns are Baccaiano (definitely recommend the pizzeria and the seafood restaurant!) We walked, but I'd recommend driving instead...its just a bit too far. We never made it to Montagnana as the pizzeria was closed each time we had planned to go.
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't need much! The restaurant on the premise, and those in Baccaiano were among our favorites in all of Italy. Bring some bug spray and a rental car instead of cabbing it and you're set!
Directions:
We used a GPS--would recommend it given the small roads.

Overall:
Our overall experience was good. The property as a whole is charming, as is this particular unit.
Enjoyed Most:
We felt that we had a lot of privacy due to the location of this unit on the property. We spent a lot of time in the evenings sitting outside enjoying an appertivo or light dinner. It was pleasant to do that without a lot of people passing by and we could enjoy the view.
Enjoyed Least:
We wanted to do some cooking and we couldn't figure out how to work the oven, and the cooktop was also hard to keep lighted. I suggested to the property manager that they post a notecard on how to work both of those appliances. She said they'd had complaints about that before. We wanted to take advantage of the pool, however, while we were there there were a couple of families with small children who were noisy--making it difficult to relax around the pool.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area was very pretty with winding roads and rolling hills. There was convenient access to the A-1 which made going on day trips quite easy. It's an easy trip into Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We did not walk to town as the restaurant in the closest town to us was closed for the month of August and there wasn't really any other reason to go there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely make sure you bring soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc. as these are not provided. If you are interested in using the kitchen appliances, be sure to ask when you first arrive how to use them.
Directions:
If you are renting a car, be sure to rent a GPS.

Overall:
Our overall experience was wonderful! It was such a delight to roam about the castle grounds, chat with other visitors or relax in such peaceful surroundings.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved everything! The restaurant food was excellent and the overall ambiance of the castle was superb.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
The peacefulness.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Baccaiano is about 15-20 minutes downhill from the castle. Montagnana is about the same uphill from the castle. Both are easy pleasant walks.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best suggestion for others is to get your groceries at the Coop in Montespertoli. About a 15 minute drive. Go on your first day to stock up. We found that if you got your groceries first, you didn't have to worry about it through the week. There is an excellent restaurant in Montagnana called il Focolare. You do need to make reservations.
Directions:
I would highly recommend a GPS. Especially when you are trying to leave Florence from the car rental place. We didn't have one, but, had no problems finding the castle. We did however, pick one up the next day for our excursions. And boy, were we glad we did.
Check In Out:
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
