About The Experience
Located on the border of Umbria and Tuscany on a large estate that is a small borgo (village), this is one of eight apartments spread across three beautiful stone buildings. Within a garden of rolling hills, woods, olive groves, and vineyards, the grounds of this borgo has a footpath leading through an Umbrian hill where the ambiance is magical and the views are simply breathtaking. Outside there are also two swimming pools on the estate, one for adults and the other for children. Play water sports on Lake Trasimeno, learn the history of Arezzo, and see the sights in Siena, which is exactly what you are able to do while being near both Tuscany and Umbria at this accommodation!
Location Description

The borgo is located two kilometers from the town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno. Although small, the center of town features shops, restaurants, and places to buy groceries. Rich in history, Tuoro sul Trasimeno arose on the same site where 16,000 Roman soldiers lost their lives in 217 BC by the army of Hannibal the Carthaginian. A theatrical reconstruction of the battle, titled Mission Hannibal, is held every evening where you, the spectator, can become one of the protagonists as the actors take you on an adventure journeying through the series of events. For a more lighthearted activity, take a quick drive on a sunny day to the beaches of Lake Trasimeno where you can participate in water sports. At the end of the day, eat at one of the restaurants featuring fresh fish or homemade pasta. The ancient Etruscan town of Cortona is also a short drive away and is full of art, history, and culture. Here you can tour frescoed churches from the 13th century; explore the original city walls, and visit an art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You are also sure to find ancient tombs dating back to the second century BC, restaurants featuring delicious Tuscan dishes, and plenty of shops ranging from antiques and crafts, to wines and olive oils. There is also the possibility of taking day trips to Perugia, Assisi, and Siena.

Nearby Attractions: shops, restaurants, markets, Tuoro sul Trasimeno (water sports, theatrical performances, beaches, boating, restaurants), Cortona (Etruscan ruins, ancient churches, original city walls, art exhibits, fortresses, ancient tombs, shops, restaurants), Perugia, Arezzo, Siena.

Customer Reviews

The staff was very personal and gracious.
Enjoyed Least:
There was no air conditioning and we were there during a heat wave. It was unfortunately about 97 degrees (F) for 8 days straight while there with very little breeze. Evenings and nights in bed were not pleasant.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful views from the roads up the hills surrounding the lake.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would suggest future renters use their Google maps at home and use the street view feature to simulate driving to the villa using the directions provided in their package. It makes a big difference once there in real life.

This was a lovely place for my husband and myself to stay. It is a one bedroom villa with a combination living room/kitchen. The property is delightful and there is a view of the lake from the stone porch. Stefania, the proprietor, is simply delightful. Her English is excellent and her suggestions made our week.
Enjoyed Most:
It's hard to pick but it is probably a toss-up between our long breakfasts on the porch and our conversations with Stefania.
Enjoyed Least:
It was a bit challenging to find the first time we tried. In the end, we called Stefania and she talked us through the various turns. The written directions could have been more extensive.
Surrounding Area:
The assorted restaurants in the surrounding small towns were excellent and relatively inexpensive. We spent a week exploring without repeating ourselves and could have cheerfully continued for another.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The farm is located in the very small village of Vernazzano, which is a moderate walk down the road from the farm. Tuoro, a larger town, is only a 10 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stefania will provide you with a long list of excellent restaurant suggestions.
Once we located the farm, we simply marked it as a favorite on our GPS and never had any difficulty. The small village of Vernazzano was initially a little challenging to find but the larger town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno was easily located by our GPS. I would definitely recommend using a GPS to travel about the beautiful side roads in the area.
Check In Out:
We truly appreciated the warmth, generosity, and ease Stefania brought to the rental process.

Very enjoyable stay in a countryside environment. Villa is on a working vineyard and olive orchard. Nice yard areas around the buildings and pool. Very quiet nad relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
Location close to major road but just far enough away to avoid any road noise. Owner was very friendly. She offers free winetasting from her own vineyard. Wine is very good. I bought some to take home.
Enjoyed Least:
Property initially very difficult to locate.
Surrounding Area:
Short drive to Lake with pleasant shore-front park and walkways.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Small supermarket only 5 minutes away. Very convenient.
