About The Experience

Between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano, this holiday accommodation in Tuscany provides the benefits of a large Tuscan estate without the necessity of having to travel with a large group. This Tuscany holiday accommodation is an apartment within a villa, with plenty of space for outdoor relaxation, walks, and swimming. In addition to having your own rental accommodation near San Gimignano, which is where the movie "Tea with Mussolini" starring Maggie Smith, Cher, and Judi Dench was filmed, you'll find yourself in the perfect location for winery-hopping and day trips to Florence, Siena, and more.

Location Description

This estate is located down a 2 km/1 mi private, unpaved road and is 3 km/2 mi from the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano, which dates back to the 10th century. San Gimignano is one of the most visited towns in Tuscany and is full of life and things to do. From the property, you’ll be able to see the town’s famous towers, the 12th century Duomo. Be sure to visit the People's Palace, and the museums dedicated to artwork and archeology. There are also plenty of wine tasting, art galleries, shops, and delicious restaurants. Numerous celebrations and gatherings are held every year including a music festival featuring theater, ballet, and opera performances, and a Medieval Harvest festival where the people of San Gimignano dress up as knights and play medieval games and have tournaments. If you’d like to explore bigger cities in Italy, a local bus can take you to the town of Poggibonsi where there is a train station that can connect you to destinations like Siena, Florence, or Pisa.

Overall:
Very happy; would go again.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location; nicely decorated; spacious; optional dinners.
Enjoyed Least:
Dusty in Tuscany; small shower.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful, spectacular views of olive trees, vineyards.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano too far and dusty to walk; took son 30 min to run to San Gimignano.
Tips or Restaurants:
For 6 Euros you can use their beach towels for the week. PAM was open on Sundays.

Karen, August

Overall:
Loved our Tuscan experience. Will definitely go back!
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful setting, friendly and helpful staff. Perfectly located. Loved the dinners.
Enjoyed Least:
Bathroom was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the surrounding towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano. Could walk but preferred to drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Sign up for the dinners on-site. Well worth the extra expense. Property has laundry facilities. Instead of using the dryer, hang clothes in the sun. After 2 hours in dryer, clothes were still wet.

Penny, July

Overall:
The owners were extremely helpful; very friendly and warm. Also gave us tremendous help with local Italians when our car had problems. Their friendly service and warmth are greatly appreciated. 6 years into their restoration, they remain 5-star type of people.
Enjoyed Most:
The scenic beauty on and around the property, and attention to detail in the restoration of the property...the owners are meticulous in their restoration and service, and are warm and very friendly. We are recommending this property to our family and friends.
Enjoyed Least:
Hard to complain about anything. Perhaps the the shower was a bit small.
Surrounding Area:
The Tuscan feel and quietness...felt we were truly under the Tuscan Sun in a different part of the world. Also the short distances to wonderful ancient villages.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano...possible to walk if in good shape, but driving was so easy, we did that instead to save time to walk through the village.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take advantage of the meals at the property. They are excellent in taste and atmosphere. Also, ask the owners for their opinions of restaurants. They led us to good ones.
Check In Out:
Caring, warm, and just fast enough for tired travelers, but not too fast...good instructions in the apartment. We felt very welcome.
