About The Experience
Imagine being within walking distance to one of the most popular Chianti towns in Tuscany! Greve is not only the capital of the Chianti region; it is also home to wonderful shops and restaurants. The beautiful main square is the gathering place for locals and tourists alike. You will have the best of both worlds, with countryside views from your small villa, along with the facilities of a lively wine town a short walk away. There are two other villas very close by.
Location Description

Greve, the capitol of the Chianti region is just 500 meters walking distance and has shops, nice restaurants and bars. In ten minutes you will reach the main square, Piazza Matteotti, a lively place where festivals are regularly held. Don’t miss the famous shops of Greve including Antica Macelleria Falorni, a Tuscan butcher shop that has been in the same spot since 1729, and Bottega dell’Artigianato, a shop specialized in hand-woven baskets and products made in olive wood. Other daytrips include the artistic and medieval cities of Florence, Siena and San Gimignano as well as the charming Chianti villages of Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and Panzano.

Nearby Attractions: The Chianti region is known for its “Chianti Classico” wine. Greve in Chianti, with its triangular shaped piazza has a great wine museum. Panzano’s old town is perfect for taking walks and the town has several wine bars and restaurants which offer wine tasting. In Castellina in Chianti, walk Via delle Volte, an underground tunnel around the city. The medieval towns of Radda and Gaiole offer tourists many castles to visit including the Castle of Volpaia, Castle of Vertine and the Castle of Meleto.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Great
Enjoyed Most:
Location near Greve
Enjoyed Least:
Shower drains backing up a bit.
Surrounding Area:
Everything!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve, yes. Walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pool towels. Too many good restaurants to name. Just drive around. They are all great.
Directions:
Use gps coordinates. More accurate.
Check In Out:
Very smooth. No problems.

Colleen And Gary, August

Overall:
It was amazing! Convenient location, great having a private bathroom in (almost) all of the bed rooms. And Monica was a great, accommodating host.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. The villa was a very convenient location to get to anywhere in Tuscany. It was an easy drive to both Pisa (even to the beach) and Siena and we were able to catch a train to Florence from Figline. It's close proximity to Greve made it easy to get down to the square for breakfast and dinner.
Enjoyed Least:
Some of our group had complaints about the pillows being a bit too firm. And the shower in the first floor bathroom is quite small for an adult.
Surrounding Area:
Greve had some great places to eat - a couple members or our group went down to town every morning for pastries and cappuccinos. We REALLY enjoyed Ristorante Il Portico. They were very accommodating to our dietary needs (both with picky eaters as well as taking into account allergies). Castello di Brolio (about 30 minutes from the villa) was an AMAZING tour!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve - and yes it was. No more than 10 minutes although it does involve a steep hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Il Portico in the main square in Greve is a restaurant that should be checked out. Castellina and Panzano are relatively close and have some amazing views as well as good restaurants and gelato.
Directions:
We did use a GPS but mostly followed the directions once we got into town. Also, drive right up to the gate behind the property and Monica will let you in. We didn't realize that was an option and parked in front of the house first.
Check In Out:
Monica seemed to be the main point of contact for check in.

Chris, July

Overall:
Could not be better.
Enjoyed Most:
The proximity to the village. It was only a ten minute walk to the central square.
Enjoyed Least:
The approach to the property was a very steep climb.
Surrounding Area:
There were several wineries and villages within easy distance.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve; yes.
Directions:
We used a GPS and we could not have gotten along without it.
Check In Out:
The owner of the property was very accommodating.
